180 view of the parlor. In the winter the Vermont casting wood stove with its glass front serves as a fireplace warming the common room for all. Behind that is a site specific sculpture in blue stone of the journey, a stylized Celtic dragon and phoenix. Relax, make yourself at home!




Spruce Peak on the AT
Hiking the Appalachian Trail from Bromley Mt. to Stratton Pond October 27, 2009 I hiked up Spruce peak only 1 mile from Rt. 4 and was rewarded with this view of Manchester and the valley below

On October 11 only a 7 mile drive to Tunnel Street in Readsboro we can find late color and watch the kayakers.

Early Color
On the way to Summerset lake, we stopped to take a picture September 28, 2009

September 28, 2009 at Summerset. There is color early at this elevation 1,900 feet. (We are at 1,400.) But more importantly the lakes and streams support the red maple, which are among the first trees to turn in autumn.




Turkeys
In January the turkeys stay in relatively large groups, stopping at many of the old apple trees. The remnants of long standing abandoned orchards in our town.

We have a late start in Vermont, It is warming up and shows signs of summer.




Fireworks
Fireworks in our town of Whitingham. We can sit at the high school and watch the fireworks over head. A small town connection.

Timber Crib Dam
Remember Lincoln Logs. This nearby dam is called a "timber crib dam." It is of similar construction and creates a wonderful swimming hole.

Adams Farm
Adams Farm
Nearby Adams Farm is a delight to children and adults as well. Feeding the farm animals and going for a wagon ride is great fun!




Quilt detail
This King sized quilt was hand made by Ruthe Plaskunyak. Her award winning work can be seen in local fairs in Connecticut.

The Bennington Room provides guests with a fireplace, or air-conditioned in summer, a private bath and king sized bed with a view of the gazebo and pond. It is our most popular room.




Snow Sculpture
If you were bringing your "castle" with you wouldn't you choose a turtle to carry it? We won second place for our effort, designed by Peter O'Sullivan.
